TYPES OF ECHOS

A number of ultrasounds during your pregnancy are standard. These are reimbursed from the basic insurance. Other ultrasounds are performed if there is a medical indication. You can have the following ultrasounds performed by us:

vitality ultrasound

The vitality ultrasound is the early ultrasound and is usually only done at your request or if there is a medical indication such as blood loss or a previous miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy. This ultrasound is best performed around 7 weeks of pregnancy. This allows you to confirm the pregnancy. The vitality ultrasound is not always reimbursed, only if there is a medical reason for this.

term echo

The term ultrasound takes place between 10 and 11 weeks of pregnancy and is intended to determine how far along you are in the pregnancy and what the due date is. This ultrasound will be reimbursed.

13-week ultrasound (ETSEO)

You can have the 13-week ultrasound performed between 12.3 and 14.3 weeks. This is a new prenatal screening ultrasound with which any physical abnormalities can be detected at an earlier stage. It is important to know that not everything can be observed and that not everything that is seen turns out to be an anomaly. This ultrasound is a supplement to the 20-week ultrasound, and not a replacement. The ultrasound is voluntary and part of a national scientific study (IMITAS study). Because the ultrasound is part of scientific research, you must also sign a consent form prior to the ultrasound examination. There are no costs involved. 20-week ultrasound (SEO)

The 20-week ultrasound is a screening ultrasound that examines visible physical abnormalities of your baby. You choose whether you want this research. If you want, you can also find out the gender with this ultrasound. The 20-week ultrasound is included in the basic package and is therefore reimbursed by your health insurer. growth ultrasound

The growth ultrasound usually takes place between 30 and 36 weeks of your pregnancy. During this ultrasound, the measurements of your child are measured again so that the development and progress of growth can be determined. This ultrasound is only performed on medical indication, for example when we have doubts about the growth of the baby.

Location ultrasound

The position ultrasound can be used to check the position of your child. This takes place at the end of the pregnancy, usually around 36 weeks. This ultrasound is not standard, but is only performed on indication

41-week ultrasound

If you have not yet given birth at 41 weeks, we can make a 41-week ultrasound. This is an extra examination to assess, among other things, the amount of amniotic fluid. If we see that this is sufficient and if your baby is still moving enough, then we know that the placenta is still functioning properly.

Gender determination ultrasound

From 14-15 weeks of pregnancy we can visualize the sex of your baby with the ultrasound. Sometimes your child is very hidden, or it is difficult to see between the legs. If in doubt or don’t see it, you will of course come back until we know for sure*! This echo is in 2D, the so-called black and white echo.

Did you know that we can also organize a Gender Review Party for you? You can then bring a number of people with you to festively announce the gender of your child while enjoying a snack and a drink. In consultation with you, we will make this a great experience. Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.

Ultrasound 2D

This is the so-called black and white echo. We can see with 2D (dimensional) throughout the pregnancy. However, the ultrasounds up to 32 weeks of pregnancy are the best. After that, your baby will often become too big to image it nicely with the ultrasound. With medical ultrasounds, where growth is measured, for example, we can still look with 2D and take measurements until the end of the pregnancy. But it is often too far after 32 weeks for beautiful photos.

Ultrasound 3D/4D

With a 3D ultrasound you can see your child in the third dimension, in other words you see a much more realistic image. The 3D echo produces a still image, which resembles a photograph. With the 4 D technique, also called HD live technique   you see your child in 3 D, but with moving images.

With the latest and most advanced HD-live technology called ClearVue, the images of your child are very realistic so that you may be able to discover the facial features of you, your partner and / or family members!

3D echo

In general, most people opt for a 3D/4D ultrasound between the 22nd and 32nd week of the pregnancy. Even earlier in the pregnancy, a 3D/4D ultrasound can be very special. Later in the pregnancy it is often no longer possible to get a good picture of your baby.

IMPORTANT

Fun, but also a check

We also check your baby at every ultrasound, which is a nice feeling. But what does this mean?

Even if you come for a fun ultrasound, it is possible that special features are visible. If we see something special, we will inform you.

To be clear, this doesn’t mean we see everything. We do not perform an in-depth medical check during a fun ultrasound, only what we notice with the (trained) eye. If matters arise that require action, we will immediately initiate this for you and support you if desired and as far as possible.

The number of photos and the quality

There is no limit to the number of photos. Of course, the number of beautiful photos depends on the position in which your baby is lying in the belly. The more beautiful it is, the more photos we can take and give!

We are often able to make beautiful images of your child, partly because we use the best equipment. However, there are factors that cannot be influenced, which partly determine the quality of the images. As mentioned, the position of your child determines the quality, but there are many more factors. To name a few: the place where the placenta is located, your posture, the amount of amniotic fluid. This and other things can affect the quality. Of course we do our utmost to provide you with as many beautiful images as possible.

Bringing other people

If you want family/friends to see your child in addition to your partner, they are of course very welcome. Because of the space, we have a maximum of 4 people (children and adults) at fun ultrasounds that you can take along with your partner. Let us know in advance how many people you plan to come with.
